چکیده
The objective of this paper is to analyze the impact of data mapping strategies on the performance of nite element applications. First, we describe a parallel mesh decomposition algorithm based on recursive spectral bisection used to partition the mesh into element blocks. A simple heuristic algorithm then renumbers the mesh nodes. Large three-dimensional meshes demonstrate the eeciency of those mapping strategies and assess the performance of a nite element program for uid dynamics.

This paper demonstrates that scalability and competitive eeciency can be achieved for unstructured grid nite element applications on distributed memory machines, such as the Connection Machine CM-5 system. The eeciency of nite element solvers is analyzed through two applications: an implicit computational aerodynamics application and an explicit solid mechanics application. Scalability of mesh ...

The objective of this paper is to propose communication procedures suitable for unstructured nite element solvers implemented on distributed-memory parallel computers such as the Connection Machine CM-5 system. First, a data-parallel implementation of the recursive spectral bisection (RSB) algorithm proposed by Pothen et al. is presented. The RSB algorithm is associated with a node renumber-ing...

Implementation of Implicit Finite Element Methods for Incompressible Flows on the Cm - 5
A parallel implementation of an implicit finite element formulation for incompress-ible fluids on a distributed-memory massively parallel computer is presented. The dominant issue that distinguishes the implementation of finite element problems on distributed-memory computers from that on traditional shared-memory scalar or vector computers is the distribution of data (and hence workload) to th...

In this research paper, the performance of an air-cored axial flux permanent magnet synchronous generator is evaluated for low speed, direct drive applications using 3D finite element modeling and experimental tests. The structure of the considered machine consists of double rotor and coreless stator, which results in the absence of core losses, reduction of stator weight and elimination of cog...
