چکیده

Background: There is lot of emphasis on early identification of autism, as it would facilitate early management, which in turn would improve the condition significantly. As there are no robust biological markers, understanding the early developmental and behavioral indicators is a viable option. Aim: This study attempts to re-evaluate the early developmental and behavioral indicators identified in Indian context, with a larger population of children with autism. Methods: This study included 54 mothers of children with autism who were interviewed to elicit information on specific indicators. Results: Results indicated that early indicators could be any of the three core domains of autism. The early developmental and behavioral indicators reported in the study could be used in routine screening of infants to identify those at-risk for autism. Conclusion: Early identification is possible in children with autism if we carefully monitor the development

Prediction of Autism at 3 Years from Behavioural and Developmental Measures in High-Risk Infants: A Longitudinal Cross-Domain Classifier Analysis.

We integrated multiple behavioural and developmental measures from multiple time-points using machine learning to improve early prediction of individual Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) outcome. We examined Mullen Scales of Early Learning, Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, and early ASD symptoms between 8 and 36 months in high-risk siblings (HR; n = 161) and low-risk controls (LR; n = 71). Longi...

The Ratio of Second to Fourth Digit Length (2D:4D) in Children with Autistic Disorder

Introduction Emerging hypotheses suggest a causal role for prenatal androgen exposure in some cases of Autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The ratios of the lengths of the bones of the 2nd to the 4th digits (2D:4D) are purported to be markers for prenatal androgen exposure and to be established early in gestation. Ratio of second and fourth digits (2D:4D)  is usually used as a proxy for prenatal t...
