Efficient Single Frequency Fibre Lasers Using Novel Photosensitive ErYYb Optical Fibres
نویسندگان
چکیده
Boron and germanium doped highly photosensitive cladding is used in a novel design to achieve photosensitive Er/Yb doped fibres, enabling short strong gratings (length = 1 cm, reflectivity > 99%) to be written without hydrogenation. The high absorption at 980 nm in Er/Yb fibres allows efficient pump absorption over a short device length, ideal for achieving highly efficient single frequency fibre lasers. Both single frequency Bragg grating reflector and distributed feedback lasers with slope efficiencies of 25% with respect to launched pump power have been realised in such fibres. ‘,.

Fibre Bragg grating writing using phase mask technology
Fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) are novel components of communication and sensors. The technique commonly employed for production of FBGs involves exposure of photosensitive germanosilicate fibre cores to intense excimer laser radiation through an optical phase mask located in close proximity of the fibre. FBGs were written using this technique in two different fibre samples and their strain and te...

Like any other laser, a fibre laser consists of an active medium (in this case a piece of doped optical fibre) between two feedback elements. While Fresnel reflection from the fibre end facet can assume the role of a broadband partially reflecting output coupler, fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) are an obvious choice for the implementation of a frequency selective high reflector in an all-fibre desi...

A controlled UV-light delivery system is envisioned to be built in order to study the stability properties of superconducting strands. The application requires a wave guide from room temperature to cryogenic temperatures. Hydrogen loaded and unloaded polyimide buffered silica–silica 100 lm core fibres were tested at cryogenic temperatures. A thermal stress test was done at 1.9 K and at 4.2 K wh...

Wavelength-tunable deep-ultraviolet (DUV; ~200–300 nm) and vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV; ~100–200 nm) lasers are needed in fields such as lithography1, medicine1 and spectroscopy2. However, many laser sources in this wavelength range, including excimerand ion-based DUV and VUV lasers, are complex and expensive to manufacture and operate because of their high power consumption, short lifetime, low ef...
