MP1 - Photoplethysmographic Imaging for the Evaluation of Peripheral Blood Perfusion in a Clinical Setting

چکیده
The ability to provide non-contact monitoring of blood perfusion, in patients susceptible to diseases such as diabetic foot, is exceptionally useful in a clinical setting. Recently, this has become achievable through a widely-used technique known as photoplethysmography. After extensively reviewing the literature on clinical applications for photoplethysymography, we began to explore the potential for objectively identifying central points of perfusion within tissue, by attempting to fit a variety of distributions to a photoplethysmography dataset. Due to the inherent noise in the data, this approach proved ineffective and so we reduced the noise in the data by utilising a three-by-three pixel neighbourhood outlier filtering technique, which was effective. A photoplethysmography blood perfusion monitoring technique was then applied to a patient with diabetes. This dataset highlighted the issues of movement artefacts to us, as the photoplethysmography results were severely perturbed by the patient’s involuntary foot tremor.

Diagnostic Value of Ankle Brachial Index for Myocardial Ischemia in Asymptomatic Diabetic Patients and Comparison with Myocardial Perfusion Imaging
Objective: The ankle-brachial index (ABI) as a simple test which can detect peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Therefore in this study we try to evaluate the diagnostic value of ABI for silent myocardial ischemia in diabetic patients and compare the results with myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) results. Materials and Methods: All 149 diabetic patients in this study were categorized according...
متن کاملArterial Blood Oxygen Saturation during Blood Pressure Cuff-induced Hypoperfusion
Pulse oximetry has been one of the most significant technological advances in clinical monitoring in the last two decades. Pulse oximetry is a non-invasive photometric technique that provides information about the arterial blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and heart rate, and has widespread clinical applications. When peripheral perfusion is poor, as in states of hypovolaemia, hypothermia and vaso...

Objective(s): In recent years, the application of radiopharmaceuticals in nuclear medicine has increased substantially. Following the diagnostic procedures performed in nuclear medicine departments, such as myocardial perfusion imaging, patients generally receive considerable doses of radiation. Normally, radiation-induced DNA damages are expected following exposure to a low-dose ionizing radia...

Objective: Measurement of blood-brain permeability dysfunction in active and chronic MS lesions with T1-weighted dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI to show variation in inflammatory activity Background: blood-brain-barrier perfusion characterization impaired in MS as some studies have shown recently buta comparison between perfusion parameters in contrast-enhanced and non-enhanced lesions not have ...
متن کاملInvestigation of oesophageal photoplethysmographic signals and blood oxygen saturation measurements in cardiothoracic surgery patients.
Pulse oximeter probes attached to the finger may fail to estimate blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) in patients with compromised peripheral perfusion (e.g. hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass surgery). The measurement of SpO2 from a central organ such as the oesophagus is suggested as an alternative to overcome this problem. A reflectance oesophageal pulse oximeter probe and a processing system imp...
