Smart grids : another step towards competition , energy security and climate change objectives
نویسنده
چکیده
The deployment of smart grids in electricity systems has given rise to much interdisciplinary research. The new technology is seen as an additional instrument available to States to achieve targets for promoting competition, increasing the safety of electricity systems and combating climate change. But the boom in smart grids also raises many economic questions. Public policies will need to be adapted, firstly to make allowance for the potential gains from smart grids and the associated information flow, and secondly to regulate the new networks and act as an incentive for investors. The new competitive offerings and end-user pricing systems will contribute to improving allocative and productive efficiency, while minimizing the risks of market power. With real-time data on output and consumption, generators and consumers will be able to adapt to market conditions. Lastly smart grids will * Email: [email protected] Phone : 33 (0)4 56 52 85 78 / Fax : 33 (0)4 56 52 85 71 ha ls hs -0 06 17 70 2, v er si on 1 30 A ug 2 01 1

Hydrogen Storage Technologies for Smart Grids applications
Electricity sector is among the main carbon emissions contributors. This sector has the potential to reduce its carbon emissions through producing electric energy from zero emitting facilities and through the optimization of the consumption in a way to better accommodate low carbon emissions. Hydrogen society per se combined with smart grids, as this is analyzed in this manuscript, can present ...

Nigeria is one of the most malnourished and hunger ridden in the league of developing countries; according to reports of Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of United Nations estimated daily animal protein intake for developing countries averaged at 4.5 g/head/day at the beginning of this century which has hardly risen to 10 g/head/day into the second decade of the century in Nigeria. This...

Demand-side management is one of the ways to create interaction between the microgrid and increase consumer participation in management schemes. Different algorithms and strategies have been used to execute consumption management programs that often covering a limited number of loads in several specific types. In this paper, first, the load shift method as an optimization problem to reduce syst...
