Thoracoscopic surgical management of esophageal benign tumor

چکیده
Background Benign esophageal tumors are rare; complete surgical resection is essential for the management of the submucosal tumors. Larger, symptomatic, or non-diagnostic lesions should be resected for both diagnostic and therapeutic indications. VATS has become a popular treatment in the thoracic surgery, however thoracoscopic esophageal surgery may lead to increased operative complications. We evaluated the effect and safety of thoracoscopic surgery foe esophageal submucosal lesions..

Complete thoracoscopic enucleation of giant leiomyoma of the esophagus: a case report and review of the literature
Esophageal leiomyoma is one of the most common types of benign esophagus tumors. Giant leiomyoma of the esophagus is traditionally treated by open thoracotomy, which has large incision. We report a case of complete thoracoscopic enucleation of giant leiomyoma in a chinese patient.

Esophageal leiomyoma is a relatively rare tumor of esophagus but it is the most common benign neoplasm of the esophagus. Small esophageal leiomyoma can be observed but larger ones and those producing symptoms should be excised. As observed for other esophageal tumors, dysphagia is its main symptom. Traditionally, open thoracotomy and enucleation are its main treatment but in the last few years ...

Esophageal leiomyomas are the most common benign mesenchymal esophageal tumors, but they occur rarely in the pediatric population. Leiomyomas are conventionally treated with extramucosal enucleation via an open thoracotomy. In this paper, we report a case of a complex massive retrocardiac esophageal leiomyoma that was successfully extirpated by using a robotic-assisted thoracoscopic technique. ...
متن کاملVideo-Assisted Thoracoscopic Management of Mediastinal Tumors
BACKGROUND Many successful attempts at removing benign mediastinal tumors with the video-assisted thoracoscopic technique have been reported, but no formal report has been published regarding malignant mediastinal tumors treated with this technique. We report our preliminary experience with video-assisted thoracoscopic removal of mediastinal tumors, benign or malignant. METHODS Seven patients...
