چکیده
Many New Applications Will Emerge In 1947, the big idea (perhaps of all time) was the stored program computer that was soon to operate. In the same year, the transistor, a second and equally big idea, was invented. By the mid 1960s, a way of fabricating and interconnecting transistors on silicon substrates was invented and in use. The development of the microprocessor in 1971 ensured the evolution of computing would continue in a very focused fashion. The next 15–25 years look equally bright. The only form of intelligence more easily, cheaply, and rapidly fabricated is the human brain, estimated to have a processing power of around 1,000 million million ops/s (one petaops), with a memory of 10 terabytes [Cochrane, 1996]. For five decades, hardware has stimulated the evolution of computer platforms of various performance, size, cost, Architects Look to Pr Applications, Instruction Sets, Memory

Speculative Multithreaded Processors
Architects of future generation processors will have hundreds of millions of transistors with which to build computing chips. At the same time, it is becoming clear that naive scaling of conventional (superscalar) designs will increase complexity and cost while not meeting performance goals. Consequently, many computer architects are advocating a shift in focus from high-performance to high-thr...
متن کاملA Futuristic Look at the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Developmental Plans in Education
Among educational philosophies and approaches, the social reconstruction philosophy with a futuristic approach can be helpful in overcoming the challenges that Iranian education will be facing in the near future, as it can predict the future based on the rapid developments and changes occurring at present. From this perspective, a positive outlook on the future can help clarifying the goals and...
متن کاملThe Study in Architects’ Thoughts Evolution in Pahlavi Era by Using Content Analysis
The study of the architectural history is a critical attempt to understanding the architecture. Our expectation of studying history of architecture is not just understanding past, but the relationship between past and future. Contemporary architectural scholars should not consider architecture as changing and renewing phenomenon, but pinpoint its nature, beginning and the process of its transfo...
متن کاملCSE548: Optimality of Tomasulo's Algorithm
The focus of architects has always been on faster execution of instructions. After pipelining, the architects realised that the processor resources were still not being fully exploited. By doing an out-of-order execution they could perform better. R.M. Tomasulo [10] in 1967 gave an algorithm which improved the performance by exploiting Instruction Level Parallelism. It introduced two interestin...
متن کاملExploring the performance of split data cache schemes on superscalar processors and symmetric multiprocessors
Current technology continues providing smaller and faster transistors, so processor architects can offer more complex and functional ILP processors, because manufacturers can fit more transistors on the same chip area. As a consequence, the fraction of chip area reachable in a single clock cycle is dropping, and at the same time the number of transistors on the chip is increasing. However, prob...
