Phototautomerization and broadband spectral holography

چکیده
We investigate the engraving of spectral holograms in porphyrin-derivative-doped solids, where a tautomerization process gives rise to persistent spectral hole burning at low temperature. Starting with a microscopic model of this process, we build a theory that connects conventional narrow-band hole burning with the engraving and retrieval of broadband holograms, in samples with possibly large optical density. The theory is consistent with the experiment that we designed to check it. © 1998 Optical Society of America [S0740-3224(98)00308-7] OCIS codes: 160.4890, 190.4380, 210.4810, 300.6290, 300.6240, 300.6250.

متن کاملInfrared broadband 50%-50% beam splitters for s-polarized light.
Prisms and slabs made of high-refractive-index materials such as ZnSe, Ge, and Si can be designed as broadband, 50%-50%, beam splitters (BSs) for obliquely incident s- polarized light in the near- and mid-IR. The beam-splitting face of the prism or slab is uncoated, while the exit face is antireflection coated. The split beams travel in orthogonal directions when light is incident at the Brewst...
متن کاملSingle-shot Complete Spatiotemporal Measurement of Complex Ultrashort Laser Pulses
The birth of laser in the 1960s opened up a new era for optics. Many interesting laser applications arose ever since in subjects like nonlinear optics, holography, spectroscopy, and quantum optics [1-4]. Among those, ultrafast optics is an emerging area that frequently catches people’s attention. Ultrafast optics deals with short pulses in time scale ranging from picosecond down to attosecond, ...
متن کاملBroadband low-dispersion diffraction of femtosecond pulses from photorefractive quantum wells
Photorefractive quantum wells operating by means of the Franz–Keldysh effect were designed to diffract a bandwidth of approximately 8 nm, nearly matching that of 100-fs pulses, with little dispersion in the diffracted pulses. Large diffraction bandwidths are engineered by adjustment of the well width of the quantum wells in a specific nonuniform distribution across the thickness of the device. ...
متن کاملAll-optical parallel-to-serial conversion by holographic spatial-to-temporal frequency encoding.
The bandwidth and the efficiency of fiber-optic communication systems exceed those of electrical cable systems. However, currently we are far from realizing the potential performance of optical networks. Electronic devices and systems connected to optical networks may reach bit rates in the range of gigabits per second. In contrast, the maximum bit rate of a photonic network may exceed 1 Tbitys...
