چکیده

In this paper we propose a self-configuring proportional-Integral (S-PI) controller based on our enhanced TCP-AQM joint system model and root-locus analysis. By introduction of root-locus method in classical control theory, we focus on the discussion on response time and stability. Comparing with static-configured PI controller in [11] which can’t work well under various network dynamics according to our analysis and simulations, our S-PI controller has a faster response time without sacrificing stability and even have a larger stability margin. Simulations under various situations validate the advantages of our algorithm over PI controller.

Stability Analysis of Proportional-Integral AQM Controllers Supporting TCP Flows Análisis de Estabilidad de Controladores AQM Proporcional-Integral Suportando Flujos TCP

This paper focuses on the asymptotic stability of proportional-integral AQM controllers supporting TCP flows. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop linearization are provided. As a result, the complete set of proportional-integral controllers that locally stabilizes the equilibrium point is obtained. The robustness of the controllers to uncertaintie...

On Designing Improved Controllers for AQM Routers Supporting TCP Flows

In this paper we study a previously developed linearized model of TCP and AQM. We use classical control system techniques to develop controllers well suited for the application. The controllers are shown to have better theoretical properties than the well known RED controller. We present guidelines for designing stable controllers subject to network parameters like load level, propogation delay...

Proportional-Integral Active Queue Management with an Anti-Windup Compensator

In this paper, we apply an anti-windup scheme for improving the performance of a conventional ProportionalIntegral (PI) controller for Active Queue Management (AQM) supporting TCP flows. When a PI controller is used for AQM, the “windup” phenomenon of the integral action can cause performance degradation because the packet drop probability is limited between 0 and 1. Therefore we model TCP/AQM ...
