Superagency: Beyond Individualistic Game Theory

چکیده
In this talk I’m going to suggest that some fundamental problems in Game Theory can be resolved by supposing that individual players can, without any communication, coalesce and act like supraindividual agents. The modus operandi of these superagents has several features of the systems of arti...cial agents of Computer Science. I hope my proposal may help towards opening one more pathway between the two disciplines.

Superagency: Beyond an Individualistic Game Theory
In this lecture I suggest that some fundamental problems in game theory may be resolved by allowing that individual players can, without communication, coalesce to act like new, supraindividual players. The study of interactive decision making has been pursued on two separate levels: the social level of social choice theory, cooperative game theory and DAI; and the individual level of noncooper...
متن کاملFlow and cooperative learning in civic game play
Flow theory offers an individualistic explanation of media enjoyment, while cooperative learning theory posits a social explanation for enhanced learning in groups. This classroom-based experimental study examines whether game players can experience both conditions and the influence of each on several types of civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions. We find that high quality cooperative lear...
متن کاملInvestigation of Game Between Cells in Occurrence of Genetic Mutations Using Evolutionary Game Theory
In this paper, two games that play a role in creating a cancer tumor and suppression are studied using evolutionary game theory and its different modes are analyzed. The first game is the competition between a cancer cell and a healthy cell to receive food through the blood. In the second game, the interaction between the two oncogenes Ras and Myc is examined for cellular deformation
متن کاملFrom Games to Giving: Social Value Orientation Predicts Donations to Noble Causes
The central purpose of the present research is to examine the ability of social value orientation (i.e., prosocial, individualistic, and competitive orientation), as measured with methods rooted in game theory (i.e., decomposed games), to predict real-life prosocial behavior. Consistent with hypotheses, results revealed that individual differences in social value orientation are predictive of v...
متن کاملA new consequence of Simpson’s paradox: Stable co-operation in one-shot Prisoner’s Dilemma from populations of individualistic learning agents
Normative theories of individual choice in economics typically assume that interacting agents should each act individualistically: i.e., they should maximize their own utility function. Specifically, game theory proposes that interaction should be governed by Nash equilibria. Computationally limited agents (whether artificial, animal or human) may not, however, have the capacity to carry out th...
