چکیده
THE following case is of interest in view of its association with the recent partial eclipse of the sun. 2695379, Guardsman W.S.S., 1st Btn. Scots Guards, aged 27 years, came to see me on July 12, 1945, complaining of obscured vision in the left eye. ;History.-No family history. Five years ago he was in Mersa Matruh for a year. During this time he was working in an outdoor-cookhouse. ToWards the end of the year, he noticed that he was not seeing so well with his right eye. He was seet by an oculist at a British

Visual prognosis after solar retinopathy.
The possibility of visual damage after direct observation of the sun has been known since ancient times and the clinical features of solar retinopathy have been well described (DukeElder, I954). Eclipse watching is the commonest cause of solar retinopathy, but this form of eye injury has also been described in flying personnel, gunners and air observers (Flynn, 1952), as a result of religious r...
متن کاملAcute eclipse retinopathy: a small case series.
We present four young patients with acute severe solar retinopathy after observation of the total eclipse on January 4, 2011 without appropriate eye protection. Funduscopic findings were accompanied by optical coherence tomography (OCT) investigation of the macula. All our patients were young (range 14-29 years). In three of the four patients we have been able to repeat OCT evaluation revealing...

Something is about to happen in Nashville, Tennessee, that has not happened since Andrew Johnson was president of the United States in 1865. The time before that was Christmas Day 1628: the year Charles I of England granted a land charter to the Massachusetts Bay Colony. And the next occurrence will not take place until August 2566, some 549 years hence. You get the picture! On Monday, August 2...
متن کاملTemperature perturbations in the troposphere - stratosphere over Thumba ( 8 . 5 ◦ N , 76 . 9 ◦ E ) during the solar eclipse 2009 / 2010
Measurements of atmospheric temperature profiles in the troposphere and lower stratosphere were made over Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) (8.5 N, 76.9 E) during a partial solar eclipse (22 July 2009) and an annular solar eclipse (15 January 2010). It was observed that during the partial solar eclipse, the temperature decreased by 2–3 C in the vicinity of the tropopause and in...
متن کاملCoordinated weather balloon solar radiation measurements during a solar eclipse
Solar eclipses provide a rapidly changing solar radiation environment. These changes can be studied using simple photodiode sensors, if the radiation reaching the sensors is unaffected by cloud. Transporting the sensors aloft using standard meteorological instrument packages modified to carry extra sensors, provides one promising but hitherto unexploited possibility for making solar eclipse rad...
