چکیده

From the dichloromethane-methanol (1:1) extract of the seed pods of Derris trifoliata, a new flavanone derivative (S)-lupinifolin 4 -́methyl ether was isolated. In addition, the known flavonoids lupinifolin and rotenone were identified. The structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic evidence. Lupinfolin showed moderate in vitro antiplasmodial activity against the D6 (chloroquine-sensitive) and W2 (chloroquineresistant) strains of Plasmodium falciparum. The different parts of this plant showed larvicidal activities against Aedes aegypti and rotenoids were identified as the active principles.

Two unusual rotenoid derivatives, 7a-O-methyl-12a-hydroxydeguelol and spiro-13-homo-13-oxaelliptone, from the seeds of Derris trifoliata.

The crude methanol extract of the seeds of Derris trifoliata showed potent and dose dependent larvicidal activity against the 2nd instar larvae of Aedes aegypti. From this extract two unusual rotenoid derivatives, a rotenoloid (named 7a-O-methyl-12a-hydroxydeguelol) and a spirohomooxarotenoid (named spiro-13-homo-13-oxaelliptone), were isolated and characterised. In addition a rare natural chro...

Isolation, Purification and Structural Elucidation of Flavonoids from Methanol Extract of Ariel Parts of Derris Brevipes (benth.) Baker

Two flavonoids were isolated by performing column chromatographic separation of methanol extract of ariel parts of Derris brevipes (Benth) Baker. Structural elucidation of purified compounds was done on the basis of spectral analysis using IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR 2D NMR spectroscopy and Mass spectrometry. The structures of the flavonoids were elucidated as 2’, 4’-dihydroxy-4-methoxy-3’prenylchalc...

Anti-Angiogenic Activity of Rotenoids from the Stems of Derris trifoliata.

The plants in the genus Derris have proven to be a rich source of rotenoids, of which cytotoxic effect against cancer cells seem to be pronounced. However, their effect on angiogenesis playing a crucial role in both cancer growth and metastasis has been seldom investigated. This study aimed at investigating the effect of the eight rotenoids (1: -8: ) isolated from Derris trifoliata stems on thr...

Isolation and Characterization of Leaf Extract of Derris Trifoliata

Derris trifoliata belongs to the family Fabaceae of the order Papilionoideae. D. trifoliata is used in local medicine in India as a stimulant, antispasmodic and counter-irritant, and against rheumatism, chronic paralysis and dysmenorrhoea. The bioactive principle present in the leaves of Derris trifoliata was isolated and characterized in the present study. The powdered leaves were repeatedly e...

Pongaflavanol: a prenylated flavonoid from Pongamia pinnata with a modified ring A.

A new prenylated flavon-4-ol with a modified ring A, which we have named pongaflavanol (1), was isolated from the stem bark of Pongamia pinnata along with the known compound tunicatachalcone (2). The structure of compound 1 was elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data.
