چکیده

A new 2D modeling method for E-core transformers adds an extended flux return path to the model of the section perpendicular to the core. Averaged with a section parallel to the core modified to have the same reluctance as the 3D model, the finite-element simulation results for total magnetic energy and magnetic energy in the windings are within 0.2-5.6% error relative to the 3D model in fifteen of sixteen cases, a large improvement over existing methods. A refinement of fringingflux calculations for gapped core legs is also presented.

Harmonic Modeling of Inrush Current in Core Type Power Transformers Using Hartley Transform

This paper presents a new method for evaluation and simulation of inrush current in various transformers using operational matrices and Hartley transform. Unlike most of the previous works, time and frequency domain calculations are conducted simultaneously. Mathematical equations are first represented to compute the inrush current based on reiteration and then Hartley transform is used to stud...

An Alternating Direction Implicit Method for Modeling of Fluid Flow

This research includes of the numerical modeling of fluids in two-dimensional cavity. The cavity flow is an important theoretical problem. In this research, modeling was carried out based on an alternating direction implicit via Vorticity-Stream function formulation. It evaluates different Reynolds numbers and grid sizes. Therefore, for the flow field analysis and prove of the ability of the sc...

A High Order Approximation of the Two Dimensional Acoustic Wave Equation with Discontinuous Coefficients

This paper concerns with the modeling and construction of a fifth order method for two dimensional acoustic wave equation in heterogenous media. The method is based on a standard discretization of the problem on smooth regions and a nonstandard method for nonsmooth regions. The construction of the nonstandard method is based on the special treatment of the interface using suitable jump conditio...

Analytical Method for Generalization of Numerically Optimized Inductor Winding Shapes

—A method is developed to use a single set of two-dimensional numerical optimizations of inductor winding shapes to simply calculate the optimal winding configuration for any design on the same core without repeating the computationally intensive numerical optimization. For transformer windings, the results are consistent with previous one-dimensional optimizations, but for inductor windings, a...

Numerical Analysis of Index-Guiding Photonic Crystal Fibers with Low Confinement Loss and Ultra-Flattened Dispersion by FDFD Method

In this article, perfectly matched layer (PML) for the boundary treatment and an efficient compact two dimensional finite-difference frequency-domain (2-D FDFD) method were combined to model photonic crystal fibers (PCF). For photonic crystal fibers, if we assume that the propagation constant along the propagation direction is fixed, three-dimensional hybrid guided modes can be calculated by us...
