چکیده
With wide applications of Turbo Principle in communications engineering, the EXIT Charts (Extrinsic Information Transfer Charts) has been a powerful tool to visualize the convergence behavior of iterative decoding process based on mutual information. Within this report, an introduction to EXIT Charts, its background, properties and applications are presented to allow the audience be familiar with this useful and insightful analysis tool when iterative decoding deployed.

Exit charts for turbo receivers in MIMO systems
Iterative exchange of information between a decoder and a front end receiver was shown to improve the performance when comparing to non-iterative approach. This so-called turbo processing may be described using Extrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) charts which were already used in case of turbo decoders and turbo-equalizers. This work extends the EXIT charts technique to describe the behavior ...

We consider the problem of transmitting a correlated Gaussian source over an AWGN channel. This paper contains two main contributions which aid in the design of such a system. We determine the characteristic curves of the source decoder for use in the extrinsic information transfer charts (EXIT charts) and show how the characteristic curves vary with the amount of correlation in the source. Fur...
متن کاملAn MSE Based Ttransfer Chart to Analyze Iterative Decoding Schemes
An alternative to extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) charts called mean squared error (MSE) charts that use a measure related to the MSE instead of mutual information is proposed. Using the relationship between mutual information and minimum mean squared error (MMSE), a relationship between the rate of any code and the area under a plot of MSE versus signal to noise ratio (SNR) is obtained, ...

متن کاملTurbo Multiuser Detection Architectures
The discovery of Turbo Codes in 1996 by Berrou et. al. proved to be a huge boost for the research of channel coding. The Turbo Principle behind turbo codes was found to be applicable in other areas. One of these areas is Multiuser Detection. In this thesis, Turbo Multiuser Detection is investigated in order to answer two main questions. The questions concern the performance gain that is obtaine...
