چکیده

In a directed graph, a star is an arborescence with at least one arc, in which the root dominates all the other vertices. A galaxy is a vertex-disjoint union of stars. In this paper, we consider the Spanning Galaxy problem of deciding whether a digraph D has a spanning galaxy or not. We show that although this problem is NP-complete (even when restricted to acyclic digraphs), it becomes polynomial-time solvable when restricted to strong digraphs. In fact, we prove that restricted to this class, the Spanning Galaxy problem it is equivalent to the problem of deciding if a strong digraph has a strong digraph with an even number of vertices. We then show a polynomial time algorithm to solve this problem. We also consider some parameterized version of the Spanning Galaxy problem. Finally, we improve some results concerning the notion of directed star arboricity of a digraph D, which is the minimum number of galaxies needed to cover all the arcs of D. We show in particular that dst(D) ≤ ∆(D) + 1 for every digraph D and that dst(D) ≤ ∆(D) for every acyclic digraph D.

Spanning galaxies in digraphs

A star is an arborescence in which the root dominates all the other vertices. A galaxy is a vertex-disjoint union of stars. The directed star arboricity of a digraph D, denoted by dst(D), is the minimum number of galaxies needed to cover A(D). In this paper, we show that dst(D) ≤ Δ(D) + 1 and that if D is acyclic then dst(D) ≤ Δ(D). These results are proved by considering the existence of spann...

Independent Spanning Trees with Small Depths in Iterated Line Digraphs

We show that the independent spanning tree conjecture on digraphs is true if we restrict ourselves to line digraphs. Also, we construct independent spanning trees with small depths in iterated line digraphs. From the results, we can obtain independent spanning trees with small depths in de Bruijn and Kautz digraphs that improve the previously known upper bounds on the depths.

More skew-equienergetic digraphs

Two digraphs of same order are said to be skew-equienergetic if their skew energies are equal. One of the open problems proposed by Li and Lian was to construct non-cospectral skew-equienergetic digraphs on n vertices. Recently this problem was solved by Ramane et al. In this  paper, we give some new methods to construct new skew-equienergetic digraphs.

On the Directed Degree-Preserving Spanning Tree Problem

In this paper we initiate a systematic study of the Reduced Degree Spanning Tree problem, where given a digraph D and a nonnegative integer k, the goal is to construct a spanning out-tree with at most k vertices of reduced out-degree. This problem is a directed analog of the wellstudied Minimum-Vertex Feedback Edge Set problem. We show that this problem is fixed-parameter tractable and admits a...
