چکیده

In a Symbiotic Cognitive Relaying (SCR) scenario, Secondary User (SU) nodes can act as multihop relays to assist communication between Primary User (PU) nodes in the case of a weak direct link. In return, the SU nodes are incentivised with the right to carry out SU-SU communication using licensed PU band for a fixed amount of time, referred to as the ‘Time Incentive’. Existing work on SCR is constrained to a fixed adhoc SU network. In this paper, we introduce mobility in SCR by considering mobile SU nodes while keeping the PU nodes fixed. This paper uses a specific mobility pattern and routing strategy for the SU nodes to propose theoretical bounds on the throughput and delay for PU-PU transmission. We derive analytically the least throughput and maximum delay possible in our model.

A Technical Report: Cognitive Relaying with Time Incentive

A new research direction in Cognitive Radio (CR) networks is to incorporate symbiotic cognitive relaying which significantly improves the radio resource utilization. The rationale of this work is that the incumbent primary user (PU) relays its traffic through the secondary user (SU) network for an enhanced throughput. In return it rewards the SUs with an incentive time during which they can use...

Routing Protocols for Mobile Cognitive Radio Ad Hoc Networks

Ad hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile nodes that dynamically form a temporary network without the use of any existing network infrastructure or centralized administration. A cognitive radio is a radio that can change its transmitter parameters based on interaction with the environment in which it operates. The basic idea of cognitive radio networks is that the unlicensed devices (co...

Cognitive Spectrum Sharing Protocols for Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Nodes

Energy consumption is one of the primary concerns in the deployment of futuristic wireless sensor networks. On one hand due to advent of technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), there has been tremendous growth in development of wireless sensor nodes, however, on the other hand these nodes are energy constrained, hence have limited lifetime. Energy harvesting from radio frequency (RF) sig...

Power Analysis and Comparison of Reactive Routing Protocols for Cognitive Radio Ad Hoc Networks

Cognitive radio networks hold the key to achieving better radio bandwidth utilization and improving the quality of wireless applications. In this paper we design a scenario for cognitive routing to improve wireless ad hoc network performance in terms of power consumption in transmit, receive and ideal modes, as well as reducing the collision of relaying on the network, without declining end-to-...
