5. hile the consideration of TnI levels below the 99 percentile URL creases sensitivity in the diagnosis of CAD, it inherently involves a crease in the specificity, although this can be improved by the mbined analysis of temporal changes in TnI levels and the ECG dings. In our study, the percent change in these levels within NR as found to be an excellent tool for predicting CAD in the modynamic study, and it could orient clinicians to the invasive anagement of these patients. The limitations of this study lie in the small sample size, the 1 0.8

Percutaneous implantation of the CoreValve® self-expanding valve prosthesis in patients with severe aortic stenosis and porcelain aorta: medium-term follow-up.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES There is little information on the use of transcatheter aortic valve implantation in patients with severe aortic stenosis and porcelain aorta. The primary aim of this study was to analyze death from any cause after CoreValve(®) implantation in patients with severe aortic stenosis, with and without porcelain aorta. METHODS In this multicenter, observational prospect...

Aortic valve replacement within an unexpected porcelain aorta: the sutureless valve option.

Four patients referred for surgical treatment of aortic stenosis presented an unexpected extremely calcified (porcelain) ascending aorta at the intraoperative epiaortic ultrasonography scanning. In each patient, replacement of the aortic valve was successfully performed using a sutureless implantable bioprosthesis during a short period of hypothermic circulatory arrest. In the era of transcathe...

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation in a Woman with Porcelain Aorta, Previous Sternotomy for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, and Critical Aortic Stenosis.

UNLABELLED A 74-year-old woman who was diagnosed with right breast cancer at age 39 had been treated with mastectomy, and repeated cycles of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She also had a history of coronary artery disease, wherein two coronary artery bypass grafts were performed 3 years ago. At that time, porcelain aorta was detected during surgery. In the year prior to admission, the patient p...

Porcelain aorta and severe aortic stenosis: is transcatheter aortic valve implantation the new standard?

Thoracic aorta calcification is associated with coronary and valvular calcification and increased risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events. Porcelain aorta represents excessive calcification of the thoracic ascending aorta (Figure) and is a challenging substrate for cardiac surgeons because aortic cross-clamping and aortotomy may cause excessive aortic injury and/or release of thromboe...

Transapical aortic valve implantation – a rescue procedure for patients with aortic stenosis and “porcelain aorta”

Surgical aortic valve replacement (AVR) still remains the treatment of choice in symptomatic significant aortic stenosis (AS). Due to technical problems, extensive calcification of the ascending aorta ("porcelain aorta") is an additional risk factor for surgery and transapical aortic valve implantation (TAAVI) is likely to be the only rescue procedure for this group of patients. We describe the...
