Protocol Architecture for Universal Personal Computing
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a new paradigm for network computing over the Internet called universal personal computing, where mobile users can access computing resources, network services, and personalized computing environments anywhere using any available terminals. The user and system requirements are defined, and an agent-based protocol architectural required to manage different mobile objects, i.e., users and terminals, in this computing environment is presented. Modifications of connection setup procedures between user application programs to enable addressing based on a global user identity are considered. The use of personal agents to facilitate interworking and management functions is proposed.

Integration of Hand- Held Devices into Collaborative Environments
We describe a collaborative environment Garnet designed around a universal event model using the publish-subscribe paradigm. We study the integration of personal digital assistants (PDA) into synchronous collaborative sessions. Our architecture uses a PDA adaptor that maps system events into a form suitable for the PDA and uses an optimized protocol that respects bandwidth limitations.
متن کامل1 Supporting Universal Personal Computing on Internet with Java and CORBA
Universal Personal Computing (UPC) supports nomadic computing on the Internet by allowing mobile users to access their personalized computing resources anywhere on the Internet using any available terminal. Since UPC must deal with heterogeneous systems in a mobile environment, independence of computing platforms and support of portable objects are imperative, which leads to the choice of Java....
متن کاملDesign of universal personal computing using SDL
Universal Personal Computing (UPC) is a novel concept to support nomadic computing on the Internet. UPC enables mobile users to access their personalized computing environment anywhere on the Internet using any available terminals. The system is modeled as distributed objects using CORBA to facilitate their distribution, interfacing, and integration. We have chosen SDL for our system design. Th...
متن کاملMobile computing survey
Mobile computing protocols are becoming one of the most important issues in state-of-the-art technologies. In this paper we will provide important issues in terms of modeling and simulation of mobile protocols. First, the survey discusses the theoretical issues in mobile or nomadic computing environment, afterwards some performance measurements papers are explained, they show simulations done t...
متن کاملA Corba Based Framework for Universal Personal Computing on the Internet
This paper presents a CORBA based framework for universal personal computing (UPC) where nomadic computing on the Internet is supported for both mobile users and mobile terminals. In the UPC environment, a mobile user, identified by a globally unique logical identifier, can access computing resources anywhere on the Internet, using any available mobile or stationary terminal attached to any net...
