The complexity of the matroid-greedoid partition problem
We show that the maximum matroid-greedoid partition problem is NP-hard to approximate to within 1/2 + ε for any ε > 0, which matches the trivial factor 1/2 approximation algorithm. The main tool in our hardness of approximation result is an extractor code with polynomial rate, alphabet size and list size, together with an efficient algorithm for list-decoding. We show that the recent extractor ...
متن کاملAn XML-Based Lightweight C++ Fact Extractor
A lightweight fact extractor is presented that utilizes XML tools, such as XPath and XSLT, to extract static information from C++ source code programs. The source code is first converted into an XML representation, srcML, to facilitate the use of a wide variety of XML tools. The method is deemed lightweight because only a partial parsing of the source is done. Additionally, the technique is qui...
متن کاملFactCrawl: A Fact Retrieval Framework for Full-Text Indices
We present FactCrawl, a framework for retrieving structured, factual information leveraging the full-text index of a search engine. The framework applies an approximation algorithm to solve problem of retrieving all facts in a document collection using a minimal set of keywords while minimizing cost. The search engine is queried with automatically generated keywords, the results are re-ranked a...
متن کاملAutomatic recognition of urban sound sources
The goal of the FDAI project is to create a general system that computes an efficient representation of the acoustic environment. More precisely, FDAI has to compute a noise disturbance indicator based on the identification of six categories of sound sources. This paper describes experiments carried out to identify acoustic features and recognition models that were implemented in FDAI. This fra...
متن کاملDASTWAR: a tool for completeness estimation in magnitude-size plane
Today, great observatories around the world, devote a substantial amount of observing time to sky surveys. The resulted images are inputs of source finder modules. These modules search for the target objects and provide us with source catalogues. We sought to quantify the ability of detection tools in recovering faint galaxies regularly encountered in deep surveys. Our approach was based on com...
