چکیده

This paper formulates the security problem of sensor placement in water distribution networks for contaminant detection. An initial attempt to develop a problem formulation is presented, suitable for mathematical analysis and design. Multiple risk-related objectives are minimized in order to compute the Pareto front of a set of possible solutions; the considered objectives are the contamination impact average, worst-case and worst-cases average. A multiobjective optimization methodology suitable for considering more that one objective function is examined and solved using a multiple-objective evolutionary algorithm.

Utilizing Routine Water Quality Instruments and Artificial Neural Networks for Monitoring Distribution System Security

Drinking water system security concerns have been a considerable issue in the United States in recent years, but in the last two years this issue has risen to new levels of urgency. The tragic events of September 11th highlighted America's vulnerability to terrorism and spurred a domestic security response unprecedented since World War II. Drinking water systems were identified almost immediate...

Survey the Nitrate Concentration in Drinking Water Distribution Systems of Kashan County, Iran

High concentration of nitrate is a prevalent problem in water resources. Untreated wastewater due to municipal, industrial and agricultural activities is the main potential source of nitrate contamination of groundwater and surface water. The maximum permissible level of nitrate concentration has been established to be 45 mg/L by WHO and US–EPA. Health problems, such as Methemoglobinemia in bab...

Probabilistic Contaminant Source Identification in Water Distribution Infrastructure Systems

Large water distribution systems can be highly vulnerable to penetration of contaminant factors caused by different means including deliberate contamination injections. As contaminants quickly spread into a water distribution network, rapid characterization of the pollution source has a high measure of importance for early warning assessment and disaster management. In this paper, a methodology...
