چکیده

Methods Imaging studies Six healthy dogs were studied in a Siemens 1.5T scanner using three breath-held 2D SSFP cine sequences (Table 1) in the basal position where flow artifacts are most pronounced. Shared scan parameters: spatial_resolution=1.2x1.2x5mm3, flip_angle=70°, temporal_resolution=10-12ms, no parallel imaging. Image processing Each cine stack I(t) (t denotes trigger time) was loaded in Matlab and the per-pixel mean (IA) and variance (IV) were found across t. Initialized with a rectangle the size of IA, a contour was evolved, using a level-set approach, until it converged to the body-air interface, providing a binary mask M (M=1 for air). Image IR=IV/(IA) 2 (pixelwise division) was calculated and all values of IR in air (M=1) were collected to estimate the excess kurtosis (g) of their distribution H. The metric QK=g was used to quantify the presence of flow artifacts.

Automated Assessment of Ghost Artifacts in MRI

Introduction: Flow artifacts in MR images can appear as image ghosts within and outside the body cavity. Technical improvements aimed at suppressing these image ghosts often rely on expert scoring (1,2) or on semi-automated methods demanding tissue segmentation and estimation of statistical properties of intensity distribution (3) to evaluate the efficacy of the methods. These approaches can be...

A Fully Integrated Method for Dynamic Rock Type Characterization Development in One of Iranian Off-Shore Oil Reservoir

Rock selection in modeling and simulation studies is usually based on two techniques; routinely defined rock types and those defined by special core analysis (SCAL). The challenge in utilizing these two techniques is that they are frequently assumed to be the same, but in practice, static rock-types (routinely defined) are not always representative of dynamic rock-types (SCAL defined) in the re...

A New Method for Characterization of Biological Particles in Microscopic Videos: Hypothesis Testing Based on a Combination of Stochastic Modeling and Graph Theory

Introduction Studying motility of biological objects is an important parameter in many biomedical processes. Therefore, automated analyzing methods via microscopic videos are becoming an important step in recent researches. Materials and Methods In the proposed method of this article, a hypothesis testing function is defined to separate biological particles from artifact and noise in captured v...

Correlation between QRS Complex Changes and Cardiac Iron Overload in Beta Thalassemia Major Patients Using T2*MRI

Background and purpose: Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a costly method to assess cardiac iron overload. The presence of fragmented QRS (fQRS) indicates changes due to iron overload in cardiac tissue. The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between fQRS and cardiac iron overload using cardiac MRI in patients with β-thalassemia major (β-TM). Materials and methods: This...

Automated Detection of Multiple Sclerosis Lesions Using Texture-based Features and a Hybrid Classifier

Background: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most frequent non-traumatic neurological disease capable of causing disability in young adults. Detection of MS lesions with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most common technique. However, manual interpretation of vast amounts of data is often tedious and error-prone. Furthermore, changes in lesions are often subtle and extremely unrepresentati...
