Negative Pressure Wound Therapy for Abdominal Wall Reconstruction

چکیده
DESCRIPTION A 45-year-old woman presented for regular postoperative follow-up of an abdominal wall reconstruction with soft tissue dehiscence of her midline laparotomy wound. The underlying fascia was intact, with exposure of biologic mesh in the open wound. Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) was employed to promote healing of her wound.

Reconstruction of massive full‐thickness abdominal wall defect: successful treatment with nonabsorbable mesh, negative pressure wound therapy, and split‐skin grafting
We demonstrate that it is possible to use a nonabsorbable mesh for abdominal wall reconstruction after total wound rupture and successfully split-skin graft directly on the mesh. Sufficient granulation tissue formation prior to skin grafting was obtained with long-term use of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT).
متن کاملWarfare-related Complex Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Using a Bioprosthetic Regenerate Template and Negative Pressure Therapy
Warfare-related torso/abdominal wounds are often unique and complex and can pose a significant reconstructive challenge. The objective of this manuscript is to report the unique and successful management of a complex warfare-related abdominal wound. A dermal regenerate template in combination with negative pressure wound therapy was used to reconstitute lateral abdominal wall integrity after ra...
متن کاملMatching Biological Mesh and Negative Pressure Wound Therapy in Reconstructing an Open Abdomen Defect
Reconstruction of open abdominal defects is a clinical problem which general and plastic surgeons have to address in cooperation. We report the case of a 66-year-old man who presented an abdominal dehiscence after multiple laparotomies for a sigmoid-rectal adenocarcinoma that infiltrated into the abdominal wall, subsequently complicated by peritonitis and enteric fistula. A cutaneous dehiscence...

BACKGROUND Abdominal wall defects result from trauma, abdominal wall tumors, necrotizing infections or complications of previous abdominal surgeries. Apart from cosmetics, abdominal wall defects have strong negative functional impact on the patients. Many different techniques exist for abdominal wall repair. Most problematic and troublesome are defects, where major part of abdominal wall had to ...
