چکیده

Cognitive radio (CR) with spectrum-sharing feature is a promising technique to address the spectrum under-utilization problem in dynamically changing environments. In this paper, the achievable capacity gain of spectrum-sharing systems over dynamic fading environments is studied. To perform a general analysis, a theoretical fading model called hyper-fading model that is suitable to the dynamic nature of CR channel is proposed. Closed-form expressions of probability density function (PDF) and cumulative density function (CDF) of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for secondary users (SUs) in spectrum-sharing systems are derived. In addition, the capacity gains achievable with spectrum-sharing systems in high and low power regions are obtained. The effects of different fading figures, average fading powers, interference temperatures, peak powers of secondary transmitters, and numbers of SUs on the achievable capacity are investigated. The analytical and simulation results show that the fading figure of the channel between SUs and primary base-station (PBS), which describes the diversity of the channel, does not contribute significantly to the system performance gain. Performance Analysis of Cognitive Radio Multiple-Access Channels Over Dynamic Fading Environments

In dynamically changing environments, the spectrum-sharing method is a promising method to address the spectrum underutilization problem for cognitive radio (CR) systems. This paper investigates the capacity of cognitive radio multiple-access channel (CR-MAC) over a dynamic fading environment. Multiple secondary users (SUs) transmit to the secondary base station under the transmit power (TP) an...

Optimal Power Control over Fading Cognitive Radio Channels by Exploiting Primary User CSI

This paper is concerned with spectrum sharing cognitive radio networks, where a secondary user (SU) or cognitive radio link communicates simultaneously over the same frequency band with an existing primary user (PU) link. It is assumed that the SU transmitter has the perfect channel state information (CSI) on the fading channels from SU transmitter to both PU and SU receivers (as usually assume...

On Ergodic Capacity of Spectrum-Sharing Systems in Fading Channels

In spectrum-sharing systems where the secondary user (SU) opportunistically accesses the primary user (PU)’s licensed channel, the SU should satisfy both the transmit power constraint of the SU transmitter and the received power constraint at the PU receiver. This letter studies the ergodic capacity of spectrum-sharing systems in fading channels. The ergodic capacity expression along with the o...

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Ergodic and outage capacities of relaying channels in spectrum-sharing constrained systems

This paper investigates the capacity of multiple relay channels in different fading and shadowing environments under spectrum-sharing constraints. We consider that a secondary user (SU) is allowed to share the spectrum band with a primary user (PU) provided that the SU’s transmit power remains below an interference power threshold set by the PU. Considering a scenario where the SU’s transmitter...
