A Growing Cognitive Model of Motor Balance Skill: Architecture, Algorithm and Application
نویسندگان
چکیده
A growing cognitive model of motor balance skill (CMMBS), which simulates the manners of human beings and animals in motor balance skill learning, is presented. CMMBS, whose architecture is similar to the reflex arc of the biologic nerve, adopts a growing algorithm from reference to Growing Cell Structures in order to perform the pattern classification in the nerve center. This growing mechanism is able to be evolved through the continuous growing of the new neuron. Reinforcement Hebbian Synaptic Modification is used as the self-learning method in CMMBS to make the neurons in difference fields to respond to the different stimulus in the best way. The inverted pendulum is chosen as the control object and CMMBS is used to achieve the self-skilllearning. The experimental results are shown that CMMBS can interact autonomously with the environment and develop the motor balance skill by the growing manners of neural system itself. Keyword: cognitive model, growing cell structures, Hebbian learning, inverted pendulum

The effect of dual-task training on balance of elderly women: with the motor and cognitive approach
The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of motor and cognitive dual-task training on dynamic balance of elderly women. For this purpose, 27 old women (aged 60 -82 years) from the old people center of Birjand city were selected randomly and divided into 3 groupd based on their TUG scores. The groups comprised of cognitive dual-task training, motor dual-task training and contro...

The prevalence of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), as a developmental neurological condition, has increased in recent years. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive-motor exercises on the improvement of some large and delicate motor skills of children with autism based on Gentilechr('39')s Two-Stage Model. In the present Semi-experimental study, one of the rehabili...
متن کاملModeling Surgical Skill Learning with Cognitive Simulation
We used a cognitive architecture (ACT-R) to explore the procedural learning of surgical tasks and then to understand the process of perceptual motor learning and skill decay in surgical skill performance. The ACT-R cognitive model simulates declarative memory processes during motor learning. In this ongoing study, four surgical tasks (bimanual carrying, peg transfer, needle passing, and suture ...
متن کاملPredicting and binding: interacting algorithms supporting the consolidation of sequential motor skills
The efficient execution of serially ordered actions is crucial for many everyday tasks. Rather than emerge from a singular learning process, a growing body of evidence in both cognitive science and neuroscience suggests that the acquisition of habitual motor sequences relies on a multitude of learning systems that fall under two general classes of computation: fast prediction of transition prob...
