On the general defective channel with informed encoder and capacities of some constrained memories

چکیده
From an information-theoretical point of view the write once memory (WOM), the unidirectional memory (WUM), the write isolated memory (WIM), the memory with address faults (MAF), Blackwell’s broadcast channel, and some other constrained memories and channels with an informed encoder can be considered as particular cases of the general defective channel (GDC) introduced by Kuznetsov as a generalization of a memory with defects. Using the concept of the GDC we consider a unified approach to the investigation of different types of natural and artificial channels with a finite number of states known to the encoder, but unknown to the decoder. To illustrate the usefulness of this approach we derive the capacities. of the above-mentioned constrained memories (WOM, WUM, WIM, MAF) as corollaries of lower and upper bounds for the number of messages transmitted over the GDC.

Achievable Secrecy Rate Regions of State Dependent Causal Cognitive Interference Channel
In this paper, the secrecy problem in the state dependent causal cognitive interference channel is studied. The channel state is non-causally known at the cognitive encoder. The message of the cognitive encoder must be kept secret from the primary receiver. We use a coding scheme which is a combination of compress-and-forward strategy with Marton coding, Gel’fand-Pinsker coding and Wyner’s wire...
متن کاملOn The Secrecy of the Cognitive Interference Channel with Channel State
In this paper the secrecy problem in the cognitive state-dependent interference channel is considered. In this scenario we have a primary and a cognitive transmitter-receiver pairs. The cognitive transmitter has the message of the primary sender as side information. In addition, the state of the channel is known at the cognitive encoder. Hence, the cognitive encoder uses this side information t...
متن کاملRetracted: Using genetic algorithm approach to solve a multi-product EPQ model with defective items, rework, and constrained space
The Economic Production Quantity (EPQ) model is often used in the manufacturing sector to assist firms in determining the optimal production lot size that minimizes overall production-inventory costs. There are some assumptions in the EPQ model that restrict this model for real-world applications. Some of these assumptions are (1) infinite space of warehouse, (2) all of the pr...
متن کاملEntanglement transmission and generation under channel uncertainty: Universal quantum channel coding
We determine the optimal rates of universal quantum codes for entanglement transmission and generation under channel uncertainty. In the simplest scenario the sender and receiver are provided merely with the information that the channel they use belongs to a given set of channels, so that they are forced to use quantum codes that are reliable for the whole set of channels. This is precisely the...
متن کاملCoding for write-unidirectional memories and conflict resolution
Write-unidirectional memories (WUMs) have been introduced recently. They are binary storage devices having a close relationship to write-once memories (WOMs). When updating the information stored by a WUM the encoder can write 1 's to some positions of the WUM or O's to some positions of the WUM but it is not allowed to do both at the same time. Wolf, Wyner, Ziv and Korner investigated WOMs in ...
