Case reports There was no significant family history and no history of trauma or of x ray therapy. There were no signs of endocrine disturbances, and no enlargement of the thyroid gland, liver, spleen, or lymph glands. The chest and abdomen revealed no abnormality. Benign orbital neurilemmoma - an uncommon cause of unilateral proptosis.
The occurrence of neurilemmoma in general is not infrequent, but it is a relatively uncommon orbital neoplasm. Proptosis caused by the tumour may be mistaken for Grave's disease. This report presents two female patients, aged 42 years and 30 years, with progressive unilateral proptosis. The former patient was investigated for Grave's disease prior to discovery of an orbital neurilemmoma mimicki...
متن کاملA Newborn with Right Eye Proptosis Secondary to Lymphangioma: A Case Report
Background: Lymphangiomas are relatively rare, benign, congenital malformations, which may affect the conjunctiva, lids and orbit of the eyes. Lymphangiomas are commonly located behind the orbital septum and usually manifest with proptosis, as well as the pain caused by spontaneous intralesional hemorrhage or upper respiratory infection. Previous studies have proposed the major causes of neonat...
متن کاملUnilateral Proptosis of Unexplained Origin: Report of Nine Cases.
REESE (1951) and other authors hold that, except when an orbital tumour is palpable, no surgery should be attempted unless a deep orbital tumour affects the function of the eye or the optic nerve. Reese recalled no case in which the orbit had been explored with benefit, merely because of an unexplained unilateral proptosis. Among my series of 130 cases of unilateral proptosis, mostly caused by ...
متن کاملIntraconal Orbital Angioleiomyoma: A Case Report and Review of Literature
Purpose: To present a patient with interaconal orbital angioleiomyoma. Case Report: A 22-year-old woman presented with painless slowly progressive proptosis. CT and MRI demonstrated a well-defined Interaconal globe size mass (inferomedially). It was isointense in T1 and T2 weighted and homogenously enhanced by Gadolinium. During the surgery, the tumor was excised via a lateral orbitotomy approa...
متن کاملHigh-Grade Urothelial Carcinoma of Bladder Transforming to Micropapillary Variant on Follow-Up
Micropapillary variant of urothelial carcinoma (UC) of the bladder is an aggressive tumour, comprising 0.6-6% of all UC. It generally presents with high-grade and stage, and has been reported as having a worse prognosis when compared to traditional UC. We report the case of a 58-year-old man who presented with macroscopic haematuria. The patient was diagnosed with high-grade urothelial carcinom...
