Improving Online Hotel Search - What Do We Need Semantics For?

Tourism service providers are increasingly under pressure to offer products of greater complexity and diversity to meet the everchanging demands of travellers. In this paper we discuss how the online hotel search can be streamlined and search costs reduced with the use of a Semantic Web-based travel portal. We will describe a prototypical implementation of the required technological infrastructure and share the experiences and lessons learned during the process of developing the application.
