CAUVIS-IME-USP at TRECVID 2011: instance search

چکیده
Structured Abstract In this paper, we describe the participation and results of CAUVIS-IME-USP at TRECVID 2011 in instance search pilot task. Briefly, what approach or combination of approaches did you test in each of your submitted runs? CAUVIS_USP: PHOW descriptor and the bag-of-word approach. What if any significant differences (in terms of what measures) did you find among runs? We submitted just one run. Based on the results, can you estimate the relative contribution of each component of your system/approach to its effectiveness? The best performance of our run was in the two queries of type location that we obtained score above the median of runs. In both locations, the texture of the scenes is the most important characteristic. One of the descriptors we are using is PHOW and it is a very suitable to describe texture. Other important factor is that for both queries the mask are big, including almost all the image. Our method did not work well when the interested instance is small. Overall, what did you learn about runs/approaches and research question(s) that motivated them? PHOW descriptor and the bag-of-word approach is the state-of-art in object recognition but it did not work well in instance search task of TRECVID.

ARTEMIS-UBIMEDIA at TRECVid 2011: Instance Search
This paper describes the approach proposed by ARTEMISUBIMEDIA team at TRECVID 2011, Instance Search (INS) task. The method is based on a semi-global image representation relying on an over-segmentation of the keyframes. An aggregation mechanism was then applied in order to group a set of sub-regions into an object similar to the query, under a global similarity criterion.

In this paper, we describe BUPT-MCPRL systems for TRECVID 2011. Our team participated in five tasks: semantic indexing, known-item search, instance search content-based copy detection and surveillance event detection. A brief introduction is shown as follows: In this year, we proposed two different methods: one based on text and another is bio-inspired method. All 2 runs we submitted are descri...

This paper reports our experiments for three TRECVID 2011 tasks: instance search, semantic indexing, and multimedia event detection. For the instance search task, we present three different approaches: (i) Large vocabulary quantization by hierarchical k-means and weighted histogram intersection based ranking metric (ii) Combination of similarities based on Glocal quantization of two set of SIFT...

AT&T participated in two tasks at TRECVID 2011: contentbased copy detection (CCD) and instance-based search (INS). The CCD system developed for TRECVID 2010 was enhanced for speed and augmented with an additional picturein-picture detector and alternative audio features [1]. As a pilot task, participation in INS evaluated object-level contentbased copy detection and created a basis for integer-...
