Transmission Characterstics of Chalcogenide Glass Photonic Crystal at Terahertz Frequencies

The band structure of two-dimensional chalcogenide glass photonic crystal of triangular lattice structure is calculated at terahertz frequencies using Plane Wave Expansion Method. The band gap ratio was found to vary with variation of the structural parameters such as fill factor and dielectric contrast. The spatial asymmetry associated with lattice structure gives rise to a complete photonic bandgap having transmission in the terahertz range.
