Saliva as an ideal milieu for emerging diagnostic approaches in primary Sjögren's syndrome.
This review will summarise the state of the art of salivary diagnostics in primary Sjögren's syndrome exploring the potential usefulness of both traditional and emerging biotechnologies for primary Sjögren's syndrome non-invasive and early detection.
متن کاملThe curious incident of the translational dog that didn't bark.
There is a general assumption that it is now time for more translational research and less basic research. Science policy leaders have sent mixed signals and the community has responded by submitting more grant applications focused on translational or applied research. Nothing could be more treacherous, because to develop innovative therapies we must more fully understand the complexities of bi...
متن کاملOne year in review 2017: primary Sjögren's syndrome.
Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is a complex and heterogeneous disease. Last year, a great deal of basic and clinical research was carried out in pSS. Following the previous reviews of this publishing series, we will herewith provide a critical digest of the most recent literature on pSS pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and treatment. More specifically, we will focus on the heterogeneity ...
متن کاملMicroRNAs: Critical Regulators of mRNA Traffic and Translational Control with Promising Biotech and Therapeutic Applications
Context:MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of short, endogenously-initiated, non-coding RNAs that post-transcriptionally control gene expression via translational repression or mRNA turnover. MiRNAs have attracted much attention in recent years as they play critical roles in gene expression and are promising tools with many biotech and therapeutic applications. The molecular mechanisms und...
متن کاملOne year in review 2016: Sjögren's syndrome.
Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is a complex heterogeneous disease charactered by a broad spectrum of clinical and serological manifestations, including non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Last year, 2015, was an exciting year for research into SS with novel insights into disease pathogenesis, clinical aspects and long-term outcomes. In addition, the use of biologic therapy in SS is rapidly expanding, with n...
