چکیده

The main directions of the evolutionary transformation of some genital structures are demonstrated on the basis of morphoclines. Due to the adequate stability in position of the muscles in the copulatory apparatus the functional morphological method is suffi ciently reliable in solving taxonomic and phylogenetic problems. Some important misinterpretations of the homology in genital structures and incorrect coding in matrices for cladistic analyses are discussed, highlighting the signifi cance of functional morphological investigations for taxonomic and phylogenetic analyses.

—Two new species of Compsolechia Meyrick (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), C. camilotus Adamski and C. vittatiella Adamski, are described from dry-forests in western Mexico. Larvae of both species were collected on leaves of Casearia nitida (L.) Jacq. (Flacourtiaceae), a new host record for the genus. Photographs of larvae and their shelters and adult moths are provided. Review of Neopalpa Povolný, 1998 with description of a new species from California and Baja California, Mexico (Lepidoptera, Gelechiidae)

The monotypic genus Neopalpa was described in 1998 by Czech entomologist Dalibor Povolný based on two male specimens from Santa Catalina Island, California, which he named Neopalpa neonata. The female of this species was discovered recently based on a DNA barcode match and is described. In addition, a new species with marked differences in morphology and DNA barcodes from southern California an...
