Emergent Endovascular Treatment of Ruptured Dissecting Aneurysm of the Intradural Vertebral Artery Using a Self-Expandable Intracranial Stent and a Bioactive Hydrophilic coil

چکیده
(VADA) necessitates an urgent treatment to prevent a fatal early rebleeding (1-3). The endovascular procedure has been suggested as a rational approach in the management of acute ruptured VADAs (1-4). Although stent-assisted coil embolization has been introduced as an effective endovascular procedure for both durable aneurysmal occlusion and parent artery preservation, some limitations were reported as well (5, 6). We report an urgently treated case of a ruptured VADA in a patient with a contralateral hypoplastic vertebral artery, using a self-expandable, flexible, intracranial nitinol stent (Neuroform : Boston Scientific/Target, Fremont, CA) and a self-expandable bioactive hydrophilic coil (HydroCoil: MicroVention, Aliso Viejo, CA)

Dissecting Aneurysms Involving the Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery We read the article of Kim et al entitled “Stenting from the Vertebral Artery to the Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery” with special interest. In their series, 2 patients had vertebral artery (VA) dissecting aneurysms involving the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) origin. The authors used VA-to-PICA stent plac...

A patient with cervicocranial fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) presented with subarachnoid hemorrhage. A ruptured dissecting distal vertebral artery aneurysm required clip ligation of the parent artery; a contralateral dissecting proximal vertebral aneurysm was occluded with detachable coils. Progressive dissecting, extracranial aneurysms of the internal carotid artery were treated with self-expan...
متن کاملEndovascular strategies for vertebrobasilar dissecting aneurysms.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Dissecting vertebrobasilar aneurysms are challenging to treat, and standard treatment modalities remain controversial. We retrospectively evaluated our experience using endovascular techniques to treat these aneurysms. MATERIALS AND METHODS From February 1997 to December 2007, 42 patients with intradural vertebrobasilar dissecting aneurysms underwent endovascular treatm...
متن کاملTreatment options for wide-necked intracranial aneurysms using a self-expandable hydrophilic coil and a self-expandable stent combination.
The endovascular treatment of wide-necked intracranial aneurysms is evolving. We report our initial experience in treating seven wide-neck intracranial aneurysms by using a new self-expanding stent, the Neuroform, in combination with a new generation of coils that incorporate a self-expandable hydrophilic lining, the HydroCoil.
متن کاملOverlapping stent-assisted coil embolization for a ruptured intracranial vertebral artery dissection
Ruptured intracranial vertebral artery dissection is a cause of non-traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage. Urgent intervention should be considered to prevent fatal rebleeding. Endovascular parent artery occlusion, which is the initial treatment of choice, is not suitable for patients with a hypoplastic or occlusive contralateral vertebral artery. We report a case of ruptured vertebral artery disse...
