چکیده

ÐWe describe a new direct method for estimating structure and motion from image intensities of multiple views. We extend the direct methods of Horn and Weldon [18] to three views. Adding the third view enables us to solve for motion and compute a dense depth map of the scene, directly from image spatio-temporal derivatives in a linear manner without first having to find point correspondences or compute optical flow. We describe the advantages and limitations of this method which are then verified with experiments using real images Index TermsÐShape representation and recovery, 3D recovery from 2D, shape from motion, image sequence analysis, algebraic and projective geometry.

Robot Motion Vision Pait I: Theory

A direct method called fixation is introduced for solving the general motion vision problem, arbitrary motion relative to an arbitrary environment. This method results in a linear constraint equation which explicitly expresses the rotational velocity in terms of the translational velocity. The combination of this constraint equation with the Brightness-Change Constraint Equation solves the gene...

3D Pose Tracking with Linear Depth and Brightness Constraints

This paper explores the direct motion estimation problem assuming that video-rate depth information is available, from either stereo cameras or other sensors. We use these depth measurements in the traditional linear brightness constraint equations, and we introduce a new depth constraint equation. As a result, estimation of certain types of motion, such as translation in depth and rotations ou...

Direct Optimal Motion Planning for Omni-directional Mobile Robots under Limitation on Velocity and Acceleration

This paper describes a low computational direct approach for optimal motion planning and obstacle avoidance of Omni-directional mobile robots within velocity and acceleration constraints on the robot motion. The main purpose of this problem is the minimization of a quadratic cost function while limitation on velocity and acceleration of robot is considered and collision with any obstacle in the...

Lucas-Kanade Inverse Compositional Using Multiple Brightness and Gradient Constraints

Abstract: A recently proposed fast image alignment algorithm is the inverse compositional algorithm based on LucasKanade. In this paper, we present an overview of different brightness and gradient constraints used with the inverse compositional algorithm. We also propose an efficient and robust data constraint for the estimation of global motion from image sequences. The constraint combines bri...

Shape and Motion under Varying Illumination: Unifying Structure from Motion, Photometric Stereo, and Multi-view Stereo

♦ Motion cue constrains 3D positions inaccurately for low textured pixels ♦ Photometric cue reveals normals accurately even for moving scenes, despite the noisy motion estimation ♦ Combing both cues recovers moving shape densely Constraints on brightness-varying flow Our formulation extends [Irani99] and applies to features, edges, and textureless regions. Our formulation also subsumes Structur...
