Does prostate acinar adenocarcinoma with Gleason Score 3 + 3 = 6 have the potential to metastasize?

چکیده
BACKGROUND There is a worldwide debate involving clinicians, uropathologists as well as patients and their families on whether Gleason score 6 adenocarcinoma should be labelled as cancer. CASE DESCRIPTION We report a case of man diagnosed with biopsy Gleason score 6 acinar adenocarcinoma and classified as low risk (based on a PSA of 5 ng/mL and stage cT2a) whose radical prostatectomy specimen initially showed organ confined Gleason score 3+3=6, WHO nuclear grade 3, acinar adenocarcinoma with lymphovascular invasion and secondary deposit in a periprostatic lymph node. When deeper sections were cut to the point that almost all the slice present in the paraffin block was sectioned, a small tumor area (<5% of the whole tumor) of Gleason pattern 4 (poorly formed glands) was found in an extraprostatic position. CONCLUSION The epilogue was that the additional finding changed the final Gleason score to 3+3=6 with tertiary pattern 4 and the stage to pT3a. Study the Expression of CD10 in Prostate Carcinoma and its Correlation with Various Clinicopathological Parameters
Background and Objective: Adenocarcinoma of the prostate is the second most common cause of cancer. The loss of CD10 is a common early event in human prostate cancer and is seen in lower Gleason Score malignancies while increased and altered expression is seen in high Gleason Score tumors, lymph nodes and bone metastasis. Material and Methods: This was a ...
متن کاملFoamy gland carcinoma of the prostate in needle biopsy: incidence, Gleason grade, and comparative α-methylacyl-CoA racemase vs. ERG expression.
Foamy gland carcinoma is a variant of prostatic acinar adenocarcinoma characterized by abundant, foamy cytoplasm, frequently showing small, pyknotic nuclei. The incidence and Gleason grade of foamy gland carcinoma in a large prostate needle biopsy series have not been established. Foamy gland carcinoma may be deceptively benign appearing and missed on needle biopsy. Immunohistochemical staining...
متن کاملAberrant expression of p63 in adenocarcinoma of the prostate: a radical prostatectomy study.
Prostatic adenocarcinoma with aberrant diffuse expression of p63 (p63-PCa) is a recently described variant of prostatic adenocarcinoma. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and pathologic features of p63-PCa at radical prostatectomy (RP). We reviewed 21 cases of p63-PCa diagnosed on needle biopsy at subsequent RP. Immunohistochemical analysis for PIN4 and Ki-67 was performed in...
متن کاملp53 Protein Expression and Its Relation to the Apoptotic Index in Prostate Adenocarcinoma
Background: Prostate cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in males. Tumor suppressor gene p53 plays an important role in causing cell cycle arrest and allowing apoptosis to proceed. Objective: To investigate the expression of p53 protein and its relation to apoptosis and prostate cancer traditional prognostic indicators. Methods: In this study expression of p53 was examined in p...
متن کاملHigh-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasialike ductal adenocarcinoma of the prostate: a clinicopathologic study of 28 cases.
Most of the prostatic ductal adenocarcinomas of the prostate are characterized by cribriform and/or papillary architecture lined by columnar pseudostratified malignant epithelium. We report 28 cases of ductal adenocarcinomas on needle biopsy and transurethral resection of prostate closely resembling high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (HGPIN) composed of simple glands with flat, tuft...
