Renormalization - scale - invariant continuation of truncated QCD ( QED ) series – an analysis beyond large - β 0 approximation

چکیده
An approximation algorithm is proposed to transform truncated QCD (or QED) series for observables. The approximation is a modification of the Baker–Gammel approximants, and is independent of the renormalization scale (RScl) µ – the coupling parameter α(µ) in the series and in the resulting approximants can evolve according to the perturbative renormalization group equation (RGE) to any chosen loop order. The proposed algorithm is a natural generalization of the recently proposed method of diagonal Padé approximants, the latter making the result RScl–invariant in large-β 0 approximation for α(µ). The algorithm described below can extract large amount of information from a calculated available truncated perturbative series for an observable, by implicitly resumming large classes of diagrams.

The Principle of Maximum Conformality
A key problem in making precise perturbative QCD predictions is the uncertainty in determining the renormalization scale of the running coupling αs(μ ). It is common practice to guess a physical scale μ = Q which is of order of a typical momentum transfer Q in the process, and then vary the scale over a range Q/2 and 2Q. This procedure is clearly problematic since the resulting fixed-order pQCD...
متن کاملGlobal approximants with renormalization scale invariance in pQCD
Truncated perturbative series (TPS’s) of any observable have the unphysical dependence on the choice of the renormalization scale (RScl). The diagonal Padé approximants (dPA’s) to any TPS of an observable possess the favorable property of being invariant in the large-β0 limit. This means that they are invariant under the change of the RScl μ when the “running” coupling parameter αs(μ ) evolves ...
متن کاملExtended BRS Symmetry and Gauge Independence in On-Shell Renormalization Schemes
Extended BRS symmetry is used to prove gauge independence of the fermion renormalization constant Z2 in on-shell QED renormalization schemes. A necessary condition for gauge independence of Z2 in on-shell QCD renormalization schemes is formulated. Satisfying this necessary condition appears to be problematic at the three-loop level in QCD. In on-shell schemes, the fermion mass renormalization Z...
متن کاملRenormalization Scale-Fixing for Complex Scattering Amplitudes
We show how to fix the renormalization scale for hard-scattering exclusive processes such as deeply virtual meson electroproduction by applying the BLM prescription to the imaginary part of the scattering amplitude and employing a fixed-t dispersion relation to obtain the scale-fixed real part. In this way we resolve the ambiguity in BLM renormalization scale-setting for complex scattering ampl...
متن کامل3 QCD perturbation theory at large orders with large renormalization scales in the large β 0 limit
QCD perturbation theory at large orders with large renormalization scales in the large β 0 limit. Abstract. We examine the QCD perturbation series at large orders, for different values of the 'large β 0 renormalization scale'. It is found that if we let this scale grow exponentially with the order, the divergent series can be turned into an expansion that converges to the Borel integral, with a...
