Power Flow Control and Power Quality Improvement of Wind Energy Conversion System Using Multi-Level Converter and Universal Custom Power Conditioner

چکیده

In this paper, the Renewable energy sources, which have been expected to be a promising alternative energy source, can bring new challenges when it is connected to the power grid. However, the generated power from wind energy source is always fluctuating due to environmental condition. In the same way wind power injection into the electrical grid affects the power quality due to the fluctuation nature of the wind. In order to power quality improvement and power flow control, a new challenging technique like universal custom power conditioner (UCPC) and power electronic converters has to be implemented. As result of using instantaneous P-Q theory as a control scheme, the multi function operation such as harmonic elimination, reactive power control, voltage sag compensation and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) will be achieved. The device UCPC, Power Electronic Converters control scheme for the grid connected wind energy generation system to improve the power quality is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK. And the simulation results prove the efficiency of using the presented method on power flow controlling and power quality improvement.
