The Effects of Prestorage Incubation of Quail Breeder Eggs on Hatchability and Subsequent Growth Performance of Progeny
نویسنده
چکیده
Introduction A number of methods have been investigated to improve the hatchability of eggs stored for more than seven days. Recently, it was reported that pre-heating of poultry eggs before storage resulted in more live chicks and a lower level of embryonic mortality compared to eggs that were not heated [2, 6, 7, 10]. However, no previously conducted research has tested pre-incubation storage (PRESI) as a method for improving the hatchability of quail eggs, and its interaction with breeder age and length of storage period. The specific goal of this study was to determine if PRESI would improve the hatchability of quail eggs. The second objective was to determine the interactive effect of different breeder age and length of storage period with PRESI treatment on hatchability and subsequent growth performance of quail.

The effects of prestorage incubation and length of storage of broiler breeder eggs on hatchability and subsequent growth performance of progeny
A total of 1 200 broiler breeder eggs were collected from a commercial flock at the hen age of 37 weeks and divided into storage treatments of 5 and 15 days. Prior to storage, the eggs were further divided into pre-storage incubation (PRESI) 0 (control), 4 and 8 h treatments. Eggs in the 4 and 8 h PRESI treatment were incubated at a standard dry-bulb temperature of 38.0°C. All eggs were weighed...

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of in ovo feeding of L-carnitine and Satureja Khuzistanica extract on hatchability, post-hatch performance and carcass traits in broiler chickens. A total of 560 fertile eggs of Ross 308 strain (36-wk-old breeder flock) were assigned randomly to seven treatments with four replicates and 20 eggs per replicate. Treatments included control grou...

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of in ovo injections of albumin, ami-no acid and dextrose into the amnion on the hatchability, growth performance and slaughter yield of Ross 308 broiler chicks. Fertile eggs (n=360) were assigned to 6 treatment groups (4 replicates of 15 eggs each) including: non-injected eggs (control), and eggs injected with 0.7 ml distilled water (sham), ...
متن کاملInfluence of prestorage incubation on embryonic development, hatchability, and chick quality.
Egg storage longer than 7 d is associated with a delay in hatch time and a decline in hatchability and chick quality. Prestorage incubation is suggested as a method to reduce the negative effects of prolonged storage times by altering the developmental stage of the embryo, but earlier research has shown that prestorage incubation can both be detrimental and beneficial for hatchability. The reas...
