چکیده

Although myxoma is a rare benign tumor, it is the most common benign tumor of the heart. It is predominantly observed in the left atrium (LA). A 38-year-old male patient was admitted to our clinic with exertional dyspnea. Transthoracic echocardiogram revealed a mass in the LA, and transesophageal echocardiogram confirmed a 16x 17-mm sized, spherical-shaped mass in the LA (Fig. 1, Video 1). The patient had history of diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidemia. He underwent coronary angiography to exclude coronary artery disease. Coronary arteries were observed to be normal. However, angiography showed that the myxoma was opacified with contrast. The myxoma was neovascularized with the distal circumflex artery. The vascular blush of the tumor was clearly indicated on coronary visualization (Fig. 2, Video 2, 3). The mass was histopathologically proven to be a myxoma (Fig. 3, 4).

Coronary angiography in atrial myxoma: findings in nine cases.

We report the findings on selective coronary angiography in nine patients with atrial myxomas. The angiograms were obtained because the patients were suspected of having coronary artery disease. In each case, the diagnosis of myxoma had been made earlier by echocardiography. Coronary angiography in five (55%) of the nine patients showed neovascularity in the tumor without calcification. In one ...

Echocardiographic findings of floating thrombus in left atrium.

We describe the M-mode and two-dimensional echocardiographic findings of a floating thrombus in the left atrium. Though the features resembled those of pedunculated left atrial myxoma, two-dimensional echocardiography was helpful in differentiating between thrombus and myxoma in the left atrium.

[Determination of residual mass in left ventricle by intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography after a giant and floating left atrial myxoma resection].

Atrial myxoma is a benign tumor of the heart that occurs primarily in the left atrium. Floating or large left atrial myxomas frequently cause functional mitral stenosis, may also affect mitral valve structure and flow, and lead to mitral regurgitation. Systemic embolization occurs in around 30% of cases either from tumor fragmentation or complete tumor detachment hence it should be removed as s...

Neovascularization in Left Atrial Myxoma

ABSTRACT We report a case with a left atrial mass who underwent coronary angiography to rule out coronary artery disease. Coronary angiography revealed an anomalous tortuous vascular structure originating from the left circumflex coronary artery to the left atrial tumor suggestive of neovascularization. Preoperative coronary angiography is useful for coronary artery evaluation and also provides...

A Giant Left Atrial Myxoma Neovascularized from the Right Coronary Artery

Myxomas are benign and the most common tumors of the cardiac muscle (Reynen, 1995). They are predominantly located in the left atrium. Clinical manifestations may vary according to the localization and the size of the myxoma. On the other hand, imaging of a myxoma by contrast dye during coronary angiography is a rare sign, which displays the vascular supply of the tumor. Here, we report the cas...
