XANTHOGRANULOMATOUS PYELONEPHRITIS - A RARE FORM OF CHRONIC CALCULOUS PYELONEPHRITIS

The article represents the authors’ own observation of patient with xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XPN). Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritisis a rare form ofchronic bacterial calculous pyelonephritis. Factors predisposingto thedevelopmentof include following: impairment theurinary flowalong theurinarytract, type II diabetes mellitus, and chronic inflammation kidney. XPN is an uncommon cause resulting in non-functioning kidneys poses preoperative diagnostic dilemma which may mimic other malignant diseases kidney (renal cell carcinoma, leiomyosarcoma) acute as infection causing (a renal carbuncle). was examined at urology clinic .Grodno State Medical University: general clinical blood urine tests, ultrasound examination, X-ray computed tomography - native contrast enhancement, magnetic resonance imaging were performed. underwent nephrectomy due to impossibility organ-preserving surgery removal volumetric formation located hilum adjacent vessels. Histopathologyof specimen wasconcludedas xanthogranulomatouspyelonephritis. patientsunderwentMR examinations, examination but adiagnosisofxanthogranulomatous pyelonephritiswas not confirmed unequivocally. final diagnosis usually established only after histologic examinationof biopsy specimens removed
