چکیده
Urban green spaces are often promoted as nature-based solutions, thus helping to mitigate the negative effects of climate change. Estimating potential environmental benefits provided by urban space is difficult because inconsistencies in management practices and their heterogeneous nature. Collecting data across such a spectrum contexts at large scale costly time consuming. In this study, we explore novel integrated method for citizen scientists assess flood mitigation spaces. three European cities, measured infiltration rate associated soil characteristics managed unmanaged The results show that simple science-based measurements can indicate (i.e., high vs. low) these sites. Infiltration was best predicted compaction, color, air temperature, level insolation low). These simple, fast methods be repeated over provide robust estimates soils exist similar temperate areas. A classification flow diagram constructed validated allows carry out tests wider geographical region higher frequency than would available research alone. Most importantly, it citizens take actions improve local support resilience.

The most effective therapy for end stage liver disease is transplantation. Immunosuppression and surgical techniques have improved the long term survival of patients following liver transplantation; this had led to an increase in demand for organs (1). The liver has remarkable regenerative properties and because of this it is possible to transplant part of a liver into an individual. This can b...

BACKGROUND The accelerating accumulation of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere is changing global environmental conditions in unprecedented and potentially irreversible ways. Climate change poses a host of challenges to the health of populations through complex direct and indirect mechanisms. The direct effects include an increased frequency of heat waves, rising sea levels that threate...

Introduction On August 28, 2011 Tropical Storm Irene made landfall in Connecticut. On October 29, 2011 Connecticut was impacted by Winter Storm Alfred. Both of these storms included high winds and heavy precipitation which resulted in prolonged power outages, disruption of public drinking water systems, property damage, and widespread debris throughout the state. The HEDSS System was utilized t...
