Vertical Profile of Ozone Derived from Combined MLS and TES Satellite Observations

چکیده
Ozone is one of the most important gases in atmosphere as it plays different roles based on levels presents. The ozone layer stratosphere protects life Earth by absorbing ultraviolet (UV) radiance while harming at ground-level. In order to better understand source pollution, transport ozone, stratosphere-troposphere exchange necessary estimate vertical profile ozone. this study, we derive throughout troposphere combing retrievals from MLS (Microwave Limb Sounder) and TES (Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer). combination algorithm retrieved profiles averaging kernels MLS, which represent sensitivity instrument. was applied pairs over globe 2007 examples. combined were compared with ozonesonde observations for validation, indicate that products extract information have less biases than or alone general both under certain quantitative criteria.

Carbon monoxide (CO) vertical profiles derived from joined TES and MLS measurements
[1] TES (Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer) nadir and MLS (Microwave Limb Sounder) limb measurements from the Aura satellite are used to jointly estimate an atmospheric carbon monoxide (CO) profile with extended vertical range compared to profiles retrieved from the individual measurement. We describe the algorithms, the processing procedures, the prototyping results, and the evaluations for t...
متن کاملEvaluation of ACCMIP outgoing longwave radiation from tropospheric ozone using TES satellite observations
We use simultaneous observations of tropospheric ozone and outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) sensitivity to tropospheric ozone from the Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES) to evaluate model tropospheric ozone and its effect on OLR simulated by a suite of chemistry-climate models that participated in the Atmospheric Chemistry and Climate Model Intercomparison Project (ACCMIP). The ensemble ...
متن کاملEvaluation of tropospheric ozone columns derived from assimilated GOME ozone profile observations
Tropospheric O3 column estimates are produced and evaluated from spaceborne O3 observations by the subtraction of assimilated O3 profile observations from total column observations, the so-called Tropospheric O3 ReAnalysis or TORA method. Here we apply the TORA method to six years (1996–2001) of ERS-2 GOME/TOMS total O3 and 5 ERS-2 GOME O3 profile observations using the TM5 global chemistry-tra...
متن کاملGlobal carbon monoxide products from combined AIRS, TES and MLS measurements on A-train satellites
This study tests a novel methodology to add value to satellite data sets. This methodology, data fusion, is similar to data assimilation, except that the background modelbased field is replaced by a satellite data set, in this case AIRS (Atmospheric Infrared Sounder) carbon monoxide (CO) measurements. The observational information comes from CO measurements with lower spatial coverage than AIRS...
متن کاملImproved tropospheric ozone profile retrievals using OMI and TES radiances
[1] We perform a study for characterizing the vertical resolution of tropospheric ozone profile retrievals from the combination of simulated ultraviolet (UV) and thermal infrared (TIR) observations that are representative of the EOS Aura Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) and the Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES). Under the low thermal contrast conditions used for this simulation, we find...
