Unsteady dynamics in the streamwise-oscillating cylinder wake for forcing frequencies below lock-on

Forcing a cylinder in the streamwise direction with frequency much lower than stationary shedding significantly alters wake dynamics. During certain portions of forcing cycle resembles that cylinder, while others it exhibits strong unsteadiness. Although range flow phenomena are observed, is shown novel time scaling framework can be used to relate forced and unforced systems.
