چکیده
There is an important number of thermoelectric applications in the range medium temperatures (between 200 and 600 °C), such as heat recovery automotive applications, where these are easily reached exhaust or motor. Among various materials which exhibit good properties this range, Skutterudites (with general formula CoSb3) stand out some most used. In recent years, different improvements have been done to decrease their thermal conductivity, from using rattler atoms inside structure nanostructuring by sintering nanoparticles increasing grain boundaries. work, we present subsequent development nanopowder ball-milling fabrication method, obtain a scalable production n-type p-type nanostructured Skutterudites. The powders into nano-composites was pressing annealing treatments, not only could substitute other processes Spark Plasma Sintering, giving competitive values final material, but can also be used directly geometries certain implementations. This procedure has tested fabricating legs material shape rings, contrast with more generally available modules, planar architecture. ring-shaped architecture obtained nano-powders between copper them, cylindrical generators were implemented, several advantages for use waste exhaust, instance. optimal parameters, far geometry device, extracted simulations based on actual measurements fabricated rings. Taking all account, work route fabricate low-cost nano-structured Skutterudite way, suitable implementation architectures mid-range temperature applications.

Conversion efficiency of skutterudite-based thermoelectric modules.
Presently, the only commercially available power generating thermoelectric (TE) modules are based on bismuth telluride (Bi2Te3) alloys and are limited to a hot side temperature of 250 °C due to the melting point of the solder interconnects and/or generally poor power generation performance above this point. For the purposes of demonstrating a TE generator or TEG with higher temperature capabili...
متن کاملBrittle Failure Mechanism in Thermoelectric Skutterudite CoSb3
Skutterudites based on CoSb3 have high thermoelectric efficiency, but the low fracture strength is a serious consideration for commercial applications. To understand the origin of the brittleness in CoSb3, we examine the response along various shear and tensile deformations using density functional theory. We find that the Co−Sb bond dominates the ideal strength. Among all the shear and tensile...
متن کاملSynthesis and Characterization of Bi2Se3 Thermoelectric Nanopowders
In order to synthesize Bi2Se3 nanopowders by a solvothermal synthesis method, ethylenediamine, dimethylformamide, acetone, absolute ethanol, and deionized water were respectively used as a solvent, using BiCl3 and elemental Se powders as starting materials and KBH4 as a reductant at 180 C for different times. X-ray diffraction was used for examining the phase composition of the products. The re...
متن کاملThermoelectric and optical properties of the filled skutterudite YbFe4Sb12
Transport measurements, including magnetoresistivity, Hall resistivity, thermal conductivity, and thermopower, and an assessment of the dimensionless thermoelectric figure of merit ZT below room temperature are reported on a polycrystalline sample of the strongly correlated electron material YbFe4Sb12 . Neutron diffraction measurements are presented, which reveal large amplitude thermal vibrati...
متن کاملNanostructured thermoelectric skutterudite Co(1-x)Ni(x)Sb3 alloys.
Nanostructured Ni-doped skutterudites Co(1-x)Ni(x)Sb3 (with x ranging from 0.01 to 0.09) were prepared by ball milling and direct-current induced hot press. It was found that the thermal conductivity was reduced due to strong electron-phonon scattering from Ni-doping as well as phonon scattering from the increased grain boundary of the nanostructures. A maximum dimensionless figure-of-merit of ...
