Teaching Digital Control of Substation and IEC 61850 With a Test Bench Validation

This paper proposes an original Smart-Grid test bed aimed at teaching the IEC 61850 standard to students and professionals. It includes emulation of medium voltage loads generators, with a supervisory control data acquisition system. With this bed, lab classes focused on setup configuration protection relays using semantics xml language are proposed. For this, GOOSE services their functionalities taught tested experiments involving real cases. The presented part dedicated complete pedagogic module comprising lectures experiments. Through development, deployment own solutions in actual distribution grid, learn by integrating theory practice through chain solutions: from electrical communication layers.
