Teachers’ perceptions on relevant upper-secondary vocational graduate competencies and their development

Finnish initial vocational education and training aims for graduate employability by emphasising self-directed learning workplace learning. However, little is known about what competencies teachers consider relevant graduates, how address in their instruction they perceive the benefits of Therefore, this study to highlight teachers’ perceptions practices on these topics. This a qualitative interview conducted cooperation with large provider. Participants were automotive engineering, electrical automation mechanical metal building service technology. The data collected semi-structured interviews analysed using qualitative, abductive content analysis. research findings indicate that fundamental domain-specific work-related attitudes paramount graduates as promote professional expertise employability. Secondly, prefer teach competencies. emergence demands be pedagogically competent. Thirdly, deem beneficial but also school may offer more equal versatile opportunities everyone. enrich scientific discussion competency needs teaching support development systems.
