Tailoring the spin state of active sites in amorphous transition metal sulfides to promote oxygen electrocatalysis

چکیده
Spin regulation of active sites is sparking much interest in boosting oxygen electrocatalytic performance. However, amorphous electrocatalysts, the design principle spin to promote catalytic activity remains unclear. Herein, we synthesized a series heteroatom-doped transition metal sulfides with regulated states using one-step hydrothermal process. Especially Mo-doped CoS, state Co2+ was successfully modulated low-spin state, which could optimize adsorption free energy various intermediates, improving reduction reaction kinetics. The fabricated Zn-air batteries (ZABs) delivered good cycle stability (over 100 h). large ZAB (100 cm2) exhibited high discharge voltage (1.25 V under 0.5 A) and superior overall mass-energy density (93 W h kg−1), illuminated 2.5-m light-emitting-diode ribbon for over seven days. This work provides new insight into mechanism engineering materials electrocatalysis.

Transition metal catalyzed synthesis of aryl sulfides.
The presence of aryl sulfides in biologically active compounds has resulted in the development of new methods to form carbon-sulfur bonds. The synthesis of aryl sulfides via metal catalysis has significantly increased in recent years. Historically, thiolates and sulfides have been thought to plague catalyst activity in the presence of transition metals. Indeed, strong coordination of thiolates ...

Water splitting for hydrogen production under sunlight using TiO2 as photo catalyst provides a better route for solar energy and attracts the attention of many researchers. The photo catalytic activity of TiO2 under sunlight irradiation depends on the band gap energy. The transition metal doped TiO2 shows an edge over TiO2 in optical absorbance and photo catalytic activity. Thin film of Cr dope...
متن کاملAmorphous to amorphous insulator-metal transition in GeSe3:Ag glasses
We study an insulator-metal transition in a ternary chalcogenide glass (GeSe3)1−xAgx for x = 0.15 and 0.25. The conducting phase of the glass is obtained by using gap sculpting [Prasai et al., Sci. Rep. 5, 15522 (2015)] and it is observed that the metallic and insulating phases have nearly identical density functional energies but have a conductivity contrast of ∼108. As such, we demonstrate an...

Poor oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysis limits the efficiency of H2 production from water electrolysis and photoelectrolysis routes to large-scale energy storage. Despite nearly a century of research, the factors governing the activity of OER catalysts are not well understood. In this Perspective, we discuss recent advances in understanding the OER in alkaline media for earth-abundant, f...
