Self-Driving Car Safety Quantification via Component-Level Analysis

چکیده
In this paper, we present a rigorous modular statistical approach for arguing safety or its insufficiency of an autonomous vehicle through concrete illustrative example. The methodology relies on making appropriate quantitative studies the performance constituent components. We explain importance sufficient and necessary conditions at component level overall as well cost-saving benefits approach. A simple automated braking example studied illustrates how separate perception system operational design domain analyses can be used to prove disprove level.

Safety Driving of the Dubins’ Car
In this paper we consider the problem of safe driving of the Dubins’ car on a straight road where the steering control is in the form (1−h)s+hv where v represents a free control and s is an automatic control preventing the system from undesired behaviors that may result from the action of v. We design the safety control s steering the car to the center of the road in minimum time which fact imp...
متن کاملModel Analysis of Adaptive Car Driving Behavior
This paper deals with two modeling approaches to car driving. The first one is a system theoretic approach to describe adaptive human driving behavior. The second approach utilizes neural networks. As an illustrative example the overtaking task is considered and modeled in system theoretic terms. Model results are used to teach a neural network. The results show that a neural network is able to...
متن کاملSelf-rated driving and driving safety in older adults.
Many U.S. states rely on older adults to self-regulate their driving and determine when driving is no longer a safe option. However, the relationship of older adults' self-rated driving in terms of actual driving competency outcomes is unclear. The current study investigates self-rated driving in terms of (1) systematic differences between older adults with high (good/excellent) versus low (poo...
متن کاملCAR, driving into the future.
The nuclear orphan receptor CAR is active in the absence of ligand with the unique capability to be further regulated by activators. A number of these activators, including phenobarbital, do not directly bind to the receptor. Considered a xenobiotic sensing receptor, CAR transcriptionally modifies the expression of genes involved in the metabolism and elimination of xenobiotics and steroids in ...
