چکیده

Heavy metal pollution may pose a significant threat to aquatic ecosystems. To assess heavy pollution, sediment samples were collected from Changwang and Wuyuan Rivers between June December 2019. An inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer was used analyze the concentrations of As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn. The results revealed that River had significantly high Cr (240.70 mg kg−1), Co (36.02 Ni (108.70 Cu (36.61 whereas As (7.55 kg−1) elevated in River. In addition, Pb Zn below China’s quality standard limits (GB 3838-2002), but level exceeded limit. However, probable effect (PEC) thus cause toxic effects. contamination factor, geo-accumulation index, modified degree experienced considerable very while low moderate pollution. load index demonstrated rivers polluted during all seasons. Additionally, risk showed risks Wuyuan, respectively. ecological ranked as Cd > Mn Multivariate analyses categorized metals into two groups based on their potential sources: group one included Zn, contained Pb. study provides valuable data which needs improvement for studied rivers. can be manage riverine quality.

This study concerns the distribution and potential sources of elevated heavy metal concentrations (Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, As) in surface sediments of the Dongzhai Harbor, Hainan Island,a national important mangrove ecosystem protection area.It was found that the pollution of As may occur occasional biological effect by numerical Sediment Quality Guidelines. Further, Geoaccumulation indices (Igeo) sugg...

Surface sediment properties and heavy metal pollution assessment in the Pearl River Estuary, China

Grain size and concentrations of heavy metals (arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn)) of 148 surface sediments and activities of 210Pb and heavy metal concetrantions of one sediment core from the Pearl River Estuary were analyzed. The surface sediments were dominated by silt and sandy silt. Sediment type controlled the spatial distributio...

Cladocera of Hainan Island, China.

The cladoceran fauna of Hainan Island (China) was investigated. Samples were collected in January 2013 and in April 2014 from over hundred water bodies, including large and small reservoirs, ponds and pools, rivers, streams, and paddy fields. There are no large natural lakes on the island. We found 53 species of Cladocera: 9 species of Sididae; 5 Daphniidae; 2 Moinidae; 2 Macrothricidae; 2 Ilyo...
