Sclerema neonatorum in a premature newborn: A case report

چکیده
Sclerema neonatorum (SN) is a rare condition of neonatal panniculitis with poor prognosis and high fatality rate. It clinically presents as hardening the skin subcutaneous adipose tissue extending throughout body, sparing fat-free soles, palms, genitalia. SN typically affects gravely ill, preterm neonates in first week life diagnosis often clinical. We report case an eight-day-old premature infant diagnosed early-onset sepsis who presented clinical histopathological features SN. Despite early treatment intravenous antibiotics topical corticosteroid cream moisturiser, died on twelfth day life.
