Response of Yam (Dioscorea alata) to the Application of Rhizophagus irregularis and Potassium Silicate under Salinity Stress

Yam (Dioscorea alata) is a tropical plant that considered critical for food security. The use of high fertilizer, low soil fertility, and insect pest infestation reduce yam tuber yield quality. present study was performed to determine the effect potassium silicate arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on cultivated under salinity stress. This revealed combination Rhizophagus irregularis Potassium more effective than their individual application were beneficial overall analyzed characters. We observed days emergence average first leaf decreased by 33.46% 26.78%, respectively, number leaves increased 45.23%, sprouts per seed 50%, vine length 60.8%, at harvest 40.53%, width 53.79%, petiole 31.74%, 43.84%, diameter 56.58%, 46.15% in T5 treated plants. also recorded starch content 21.89%, ascorbic acid 61.51%, moisture 8.36%, TSS total sugar 69.53% phenol found be 1.53% higher T3 applied plants, while dry matter 36.37% treatment. Furthermore, enzymatic evaluation MDA enhanced 142% T2. enzyme 8-OHdG from sample reported after 621.15%. Moreover, amount CAT 53.46% T2 Likewise, SOD POX D. alata 30.91% 51.15% treatments respectively.
